This is what collecting is about! This beautiful antique necklace is by far the prettiest edwardian piece Ive ever had the pleasure to own.
Its old, circa 1910 or so-Edwardian.It has 3 amethyst all with a spectacular cut as you can see! Sparkle is what it does, even in low light! Each stone, one large oval and two tear drops, are bezel set for maximum light refraction.
These necklaces are known as negligee necklaces, where two dangles, usually of varying lengths, hang into the neckline. These were dubbed the negligee necklace because of its incredibly sexy style. After an era of high collars and modest dress, these necklaces were somewhat taboo because they draw eyes into the cleavage.
The metal is white and is either silver or white gold,I will not be touching this with acid.Due to the gorgeous patina,I believe it to be silver though contrary to belief- gold DOES tarnish and sometime heavily with enough time.
The dark patina has taken on a blue black against the luster of the white metal, almost gunmetal. And against the soft purple-lilac of the amethyst it is nothing short of stunning. These are natural amethyts, not glass. The smaller of the drops is slightly more purple. These stones have amazing fire and Im pretty sure most of you have never seen amethyst with life like this! Big flashes of light will dance for all to see.
The necklace can be reverse to wear with the rose cut-like back side showing or the tables facing up.
This is a uber feminine necklace, dainty yet substantial enough to draw glances. It is a genuine antique and will make a super addition to your collection!
Excellent consition.Recently reduced to the final sale price.

approx 18" around the neck and the dangles are 1 1/8" and over 1 3/8" long from the neck.
