Ivan the Terrible Art Doll Miniature

Inspired by an artist's rendition of Ivan, I created this miniature in gold brocade coat trimmed in white faux fur collar and gold cuffs and trim. His sly expression I painted by hand, and he has a little fur cap accented in gold along with his black and gold rod.

This little character is only 4 1/2 inches tall (11.4 cm) and is a perfect addition to a history lover's collection.

Ivan the Terrible was the Russian Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533. His long saw the transforming of Russia into a new and more powerful nation that he became the Tsar of.
He was described as intelligent and devout, yet given to rages and prone to frequent outbreaks of mental illness. . Some, at his time, called him "Ivan Groznyi" the name, which, although usually translated as "Terrible", actually means something closer to "Inspiring Awe" and carries meanings of might, power and strictness rather than cruelty.
