This is a pair of antique French men's linen under breeches. They have an open front, which has a button fastenng with 3 buttons for the waist section - 1 of these buttons is missing.

On the rear waistband, it is split in two and one section feeds through the other and can be fastened by buttons, please see photograph 2.

On the bottom of each leg is a double button fastener.

On the inside of the waistband is a label that reads "Louis Esquirol Chemisier Castelnaudary".

The breeches have a small turkey red cross stitch monogram of PG on the front right-hand side.

They are in good condition for their age but there is a split in the fabric, just under the crotch as shown on photograph 3. There are also some light marks on the breeches but nothing too bad.

These would be great for costume collectors or am drammers.

They measure 16½" at the waist (when closed)
The inside leg is 27½"
The leg width at the buttoned opening is 5½
