Beautifully detailed double-page engraving of molluscs and tunicata.

The print shows: Clavellina lepadiformis (sea squirts), Tridaena mutica (giant clams), Sephia officinalis - Common Cuttlefish or European Common Cuttlefish (Sepia), Botryllus - Colonial Ascidian Tunicate (sea squirts), Pholas dactylus - Common Piddock (piddocks or angelwings), Meleagrina margaritifera - Black-Lip Pearl Oyster (pearl oysters), Nautilus pompillus - Chambered Nautilus (nautilus), Teredo fatalis - Woodworm (piddocks or angelwings), Ascidia microcosmus (sea squirts), Salpa maxima (salps).

The size of the print: 12" x 9,6" (30,5 x 24,5 cm) including its border.
Printed in 1890, Bibliographisches Institut Leipzig Germany, as an illustration for the 4th edition of "Meyers' Konversations Lexikon".

The print is in good condition, the paper shows its age with creamy patina, perfect for framing.

Concerning the age of the paper - cca. 120 years - some spots can be occured on the margin and the reverse side, but these do not effect the quality of the print itself as it can be seen on the scan.

Please note, that by antique prints due to their age some imperfections are to be expected.
