Here is a vintage social and cultural studies book about race relations from 1946 titled "Sense and Nonsense about Race." It was a "study and action pamphlet on race relations" for high school and/or college Social Studies classes and in fact the author, Ethel J. Alpenfels also wrote a textbook about race as well.

It is paperback with a folded and stapled spine covered in peach colored card stock weight paper with black and rust printing. There are small black and rusty brown illustrations by Louise E. Jefferson throughout the book. It is 48 pages long (both sides) and measures 7 1/2" by 5."

Although published many years ago it was very forward-thinking for its time. In the forward it says, "In a world of superfortresses, radar and atomic bombs, mankind faces an awful and urgent choice: We of this planet must learn to live together or perish."

"It is assumed that the readers of this pamphlet are committed to the mission of making our world neighborhood into a world brotherhood."

"This pamphlet is a primer of scientific truth for all who wish to know the essential facts about race."

This is really fascinating reading!

The pages of this book are in really good condition. The cover near the fold shows some wear, proving the book was actually read and referred to. Inside the front cover the name "Autry Michael" is written in pen, and "10-2-B" on the title page.

Oh for the time when only "Two thousand million human beings" inhabited the planet. Think there's a few more now......and we're still working on this problem....
