These are the most delicate pieces of china I have ever handled. They are really exquisite and a delight to hold. They were made in the late 1890s by Wileman & Co in the Foley china works, Staffordshire.

In 1872 James Wileman and Joseph Shelley became partners to run the china works trading as Wileman & Co. In 1884 James Wileman retired from the china works which became a Shelley family business, still trading as Wileman & Co. The Shelley backstamp wasn't introduced until 1920. These pieces can be dated to the 1890s from the backstamp and registration number of 272101.

The pretty shell shaped saucer has a diameter of 4¾ ins and the delicate cup is 2 ins high with a diameter of 3 ins. Both of these pieces are in very good condition particularly considering their age. There are no chips or cracks.

The little jug is 2¾ ins high and measures 3¾ ins from spout to end of handle. It has a very small hairline crack at the rim by the handle – around ¼ ins in length and barely visible. The slop bowl measures 2¼ ins high with a diameter of 4 ins. It does have a hairline crack of around 1½ ins running down from the rim. The crack can be seen in the 4th photo. I decided to include the jug and bowl in this listing rather than discard them as they are still so lovely and are just meant to stay with the cup and saucer. The price reflects the condition of these pieces.

The china will be carefully packed in bubble wrap inside a postage-style cardboard box.
