Civil War Patriotic Cravat or Necktie

Great Civil War era patriotic blue, white and red patriotic cravat. Made of 100% silk in a popular style of necktie worn during the Civil War era. This style was favored by President Abraham Lincoln. Each cravat is 100% hand sewn.

From Harpers Weekly, 1861 - a description of the the streets of New York City:

"The passengers in the streets wear badges, rosettes and cockades in a trinity or patriotic colors. In shawls, in cravats, in ribbons, the tri-color appears.... There is but one thought and one question. The people are soldiers. The country is a camp. It is War!"

This is a great and UNIQUE item for the Civil War reenactor. The combination of blue, white and red were often worn by Southerners (as opposed to red, white and blue).

Size LARGE. The tie closes in the back with a button closure - we have used antique period correct mother of pearl buttons.
