This beautiful baptismal font is designed by Ernest Weber in the 50's for the famous "Michael Andersen & Son" studio on the island of Bornholm in eastern Denmark.

The pottery is a copy of the baptismal font in the Å Kirke in Åkirkeby on Bornholm.

On the font there has been used the "Persia Technique", which creates a mosaic-like background in different shades of gray. This technique is complicated and hard to control, and was introduced to the company in the 30's by Daniel Andersen (the oldest son of Michael Andersen).

There are 2 original stickers on the item. Under the sticker on the bottom, you will find the pottery stamp with the 3 herrings - the mark of "Michael Andersen & Søn".

There are slightly reddish and black & blue colours inside the glazed bowl. The outside of the piece is covered in a turquoise, green & blue glaze.

It is in a good vintage condition, and there are 2 small chips and some minor crazing
inside the bowl (please see pictures).

Measures (approx.):
- height 11 cm / 4.3"
- diameter 11 cm / 4.3"
