This is a handmade, hand-painted journal. No two pieces I create are alike.
The handmade paper cover is painted with a traditional Indian mehndi design, combined with one round metallic element I picked up at an open market in Bombay.

I am a classically trained Mexican illustrator and graphic designer living in a small town nestled in the Himalayas in northern India. I created this journal in my small studio which looks out upon the beautiful Dhauladhar mountain range.

The notebook itself is handmade from 70% cotton / 30% recycled paper by Tibetans who have resettled here.

I painted the cover in silvery metallic ink with a traditional mehndi design like the ones Indian women paint on their hands with henna. The design was taught to me by a mehndi master in Bombay who boasted that her designs came "from God himself." I spent months seated at her side in a very traditional Indian beauty salon learning her art as we listened to Indian music.

Both the cover and the inside pages are made of handmade paper, and the journal is hand-bound. The pages are fairly thick and have a delicious texture suitable for writing, sketching and even watercolor painting. It's a nice size for carrying in your bag with you.
