Vintage Aso Oke Fabric (large) from the Yoruba Tribe /Pink, Purple, Yellow, Glittery / African Tribal Textile / Wall Hanging, Picnic Blanket

This beautiful piece of Aso Oke (pronounced ah-SHOW-kay) fabric is from the Yoruba people from south west Nigeria, made 20-25 years ago. Intricately woven primarily by men, with beautiful patterns and incredible details. Most Aso Oke is strip-cloth, meaning it is made of multiple strips sewn together. This piece is made of 15 strips.

One of my all-time favorite combinations, the colors in this one are so vibrant! From what I have seen of the vintage cloths, this seems to be an unusually vibrant combination. The yellow strips are glittery, the purple strips have open weave, and the pink is beautiful!

This fabric is the large section out of a set of traditional Yoruba clothing. It would be worn wrapped around the lower body. How about using it as a beautiful tablecloth? Or how about sewing your own fabulous creation? Skirt, curtains, shirt, bag, the possibilities are endless.

Fabric measures 45" wide x 73" long (the large piece in the set). Together with the medium and small piece, it would make a complete Aso Oke outfit.

I have other color combinations as well-please see my other listings: http://www.etsy.com/shop/WomanShopsWorld?section_id=7894747
