These 4 pieces of fabric have been unpicked from a vintage worn japanese kimono from
the early Showa era from some time between mid 1920s to 1950s.

It is just fabulous and fascinating to gaze at hanging on a wall.

It is old, woven in the meisen technique (an ikat weave) that was used widely from the 1920s to the 1950s.

The pattern is entirely woven - the background looks grey and is achieved by black yarn interwoven with ivory yarn. The purple is a fabulous warm purple.

It feels crisp yet supple and floppy. The weave is smooth with the very occasional slub of black yarn showing through.

Width: 36cm or 13.75 inches

CONDITION: Vintage, unpicked from a used kimono and IT IS WITH FLAWS in parts.

The pieces are in varying condition as follows - refer Picture 2:
Piece 1 (top left): 38cm (15 inches) long, good condition.

Piece 2 (top right): 30cm (12 inches) long, good condition on left hand side, faint but large background staining on right hand side.

Piece 3 (lower left): 140cm (55 inches) long, only 38cm (15 inches) in good condition, faint but large background staining in many parts of remainder.

Piece 4 (lower right): 90cm (nearly 36 inches) long, good condition - suitable for wall hanging etc.

100% pure silk.

Returns Policy:
Unless the circumstances are exceptional, we do not generally refund for fabric – please feel free to ask questions or for more photos before purchasing.

Postage Guide:
We combine postage whenever possible and charge postage plus packaging at cost. Please ask for combined total before buying if you are unsure.

As a guide, 3 metres of japanese kimono silk to USA is $8.35 postage & packaging.

A purchase of about 10m of one or a variety of fabrics usually ends up costing about 2/3 of the per-metre postage price quoted - except if you are in the USA, there is now a $9 surcharge on parcels over 500g! due to increased security checking costs - for USA customers it means there is no longer much of a postage refund for quantities larger than about 5m.
