I just love this set~ they are both Diamond K Folk Art original designs, and ONE of a kind! The Queen is 19" tall, the King 18"(his staff is 20.5" tall). Both are hand made from hard stuffed aged and painted muslin. Their legs bend at the hip and knee, with painted on shoes. Their Arms bend at both the shoulder and elbow, and have cute little needle sculpted fingers.
The Queen wears vintage white kerchief pantaloons, and royal red gown with white apron, also made from a vintage kerchief. She holds her gift from the King..... a stitched heavy board german schultute, or cone, full of one dozen german glass glittered red paper hearts, complete on long stems and aranged with excelsior and sisal pine trimmings. Hanging from her apron you will see her aged heart pin keep, and her special antiqued hang tag.
The King looks just charming in his vintage kerchief jodhpurs that end at the knee in a red ribbon cuff, and his stately red jacket over his ruffled shirt that you just see peeking out in the front. He wears a special German gold glass glittered heart medal 'round his neck, and has a firm hand on his staff of hand cut & painted German glass glittered hearts. Both their very primitive heart shape faces have been entirely hand stitched, with little needle sculpted noses and stitched on red curls. Both have been rightly aged, and are signed and dated on the back of their heads.
