Large African Vinyl Record Beads Vintage, Multi Colored with PINK, Green, Blue- 15x.5mm / Rare Craft, Jewelry Making Supplies
These fabulous beads are made in Africa from Vulcanite, a material that was used to make vinyl records. They are known as Vinyl Record Beads, since they are made from the same material. Natively, they are called "jigada beads," which is a really fun name to say!
They are vintage, and hail from Mali. Women wear them around their waist, to help them hold their shape. Really vibrant mix with PINK, red, yellow, blue, green, and black. Nice BIG size: 15x.5mm thick. Red, yellow, and black are popular colors, but it is getting harder to find the fun strands of pink, green, and blue! There are HUNDREDS of beads on this 29"+/- strand.
Temporarily strung on thread, you could wear these beads as-is. Or why not cut them apart and make some recycled vinyl magic of your own?
