Beautiful antique Charles Ahrenfeldt Limoges double handled cabinet or cake plate with gilding and hand painted floral decoration. The plate features a transfer printed lacy gilt medallion at its center which is complemented by hand painted purple and pink blossoms around the edges of the piece. The body of the plate bears soft green and tangerine background coloring along with raised acanthus style leaves which are highlighted in gilt. The scalloped edge is also gilded. The overall effect is truly elegant, and the piece looks great when displayed on a plate stand or hung on a wall.

The plate, measuring just over 10.5" from edge to edge at the handles, is in good antique condition. The piece has no utensil marks, but the edge gilding shows some wear as expected in an item of this age, which serves to add to its vintage appeal. There are no cracks or repairs present but there is one small flat chip to the back edge of the rim which is unnoticeable from the front when displayed. The back of the plate bears the green underglaze intertwined C and A Charles Ahrenfeldt porcelain mark along with the words "FRANCE PATENT APPLIED FOR", dating the piece somewhere between 1894 - 1930. Just beneath the green porcelain backstamp there is also a brick colored decorator mark "C. AHRENFELDT LIMOGES FRANCE".

This pretty piece would be a perfect addition to an existing Limoges collection, either displayed on its own or with a collection of other antique plates. Consider adding a hand made touch of vintage France to your decor with this lovely plate.
