The focal of this piece is a Tom Mix cereal premium, a brass compass prize with pivoting magnifying glass. The window of the compass is pitted with age and too clouded to see the needle, so don't count on it helping out if you get lost. But if you need to read some tiny print on a map, the magnifying glass, though small, works really well. Antique brass book-chain, pinchbeck box-chain and brass belcher chain connect to a link from a vintage copper bracelet. An antique gold-plated dog clip suspended from the copper leaves holds the Ralston prize.

The neck chain is 19 inches (48.3 cm) around, from the bottom of the copper leaves, and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) from bottom of the Tom Mix piece to top of the jump ring holding it. The prize itself (not including bail) is 1.5 by 1 inch (3.8 by 2.5 cm).

"Thomas Edwin 'Tom' Mix (born Thomas Hezikiah Mix; January 6, 1880–October 12, 1940) was an American film actor and the star of many early Western movies. He made a reported 336 films between 1910 and 1935."
