Authentic Civil War diary by Private Calvin Sterrett, Cedarvil Green County, Ohio, 60th Regiment O.V.I. Diary dates are March 7, 1864 to June 15, 1864. Private Sterrett was killed 8 days later, on June 23, 1864, at the age of 18. This diary is from the collection of the Rourke Art Gallery Museum. Private Sterrett talks about daily life in the Civil War. Some excerpts- "Last night our co. was put on picket. The Reds tride our lines but that was all they done." "Today we laid around all day today the sharp shooters plaid on us today." "James day shot the ramrod through his finger." The diary really is a treasure- enjoy! Feel free to ask questions.
