The design of these striking Four Winds Drilled Carved Bone Cabochons with their fine textured surface is exclusive to Indounik.

I had them crafted in Bali as an earring pair along with a bigger undrilled 42mm version that you can see here - http://www.etsy.com/listing/76807555/four-winds-carved-bone-cabochon.

The design incorporates intersecting stylized palm leaves, pointing in the direction of the four winds – symbolic of the directions from which people are drawn to Bali!

The ones you see here have a 1mm hole drilled through the centre of each piece, at the point where the lines intersect. If you prefer them undrilled, you can find some here - http://www.etsy.com/listing/76797096/four-winds-carved-bone-earring-cabochons

BACK STORY
Of the 17,000 islands that make up the vast Indonesian archipelago, one more than any other has become a world favourite destination. It is, of course, Bali. My second home.

We all have places in the heart and Bali has been mine for more than two decades.

This tropical paradise has had a bewitching effect on people around the globe and like me, many return over and over again to her welcoming shores. Others, less fortunate, are filled with longing.

There are about 3.8 million people living on Bali and the smaller islands that surround it - Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, Serangan and Menjangan Island.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of Bali
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of Bali
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold

*Apologies to Sting who of course sang of "fields of barley". I know he'd understand.
