This is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. All of the colors of the rainbow meld together in this beautiful piece of pottery. A unique, one of a kind piece of pottery, hand-crafted and signed by the artist. This item was featured in itsamadcaplife.blogspot.com/p/decor.html

This vase was thrown on a pottery wheel, altered, and bisque fired. A metalic Raku glaze was applied, and the piece was fired to around 1900 degrees F. When the raku kiln reached temperature, this piece of pottery was removed and placed into a reduction chamber with flamable materials (newspaper, shredded paper, dried leaves, etc.) The heat from the pottery causes the material to erupt in flame, and then the lid was closed to allow the flame to remove all the oxygen from the reduction chamber.

The reduction in oxygen and the flames themselves cause the variations in color that you see on the surface. This vase has more color than photos can truly capture. This would make a spectacular focal piece on your fireplace mantle, on youjr coffee table or on a prominant shelf in your family room.

Raku pottery is decorative only. These pieces are not food safe, nor will they hold water. You can display these pieces as they are, or use dry materials (feathers, dried flowers, silk flowers, twigs, etc.) to make a lovely arrangement. You may also be able to purchase clear plastic inserts in craft shops so that cut flowers may be displayed in it.

Frequently asked questions about muddywaterscc

I don't mind making custom items but, I want customers to be aware of time frames needed to make custom items, so they are not frustrated by how long it takes. It generally takes around 6-8 weeks from when I begin an item until it is finished. There are many steps and processes that go into making a piece of pottery.
Making the item takes a few days, between throwing on the wheel or hand building, to trimming, to assembly, to drying times.
Making enough items to fill the kiln takes at least four weeks.
Each item is glazed. The glaze for most of my work is brushed on, at least three coats. This takes several weeks.
Finally, the glaze kiln load is run to make the finish permanent.
Hand wash with warm soapy water for best results.
Items that are meant to be used every day, like coffee mugs, can be washed in the dishwasher as long as there is adequate space around them so they are not banging against other items in the dishwasher.
Raku items should be hand washed only. They should not be left outside or near windows where they will be exposed to the sun, as sun exposure may change their coloring or finish.
Pottery is breakable, so treat it gently and do not drop it, or it is likely to break.
My highest priority is ensuring that your item arrives safely. I wrap all items in bubble wrap, and place them in shipping peanuts.
If you would like an item wrapped in tissue paper over the bubble wrap, I am happy to do this if you ask me.
I'm also happy to add a personalized note from you if it is a gift. Just send me a convo letting me know what you want to say.
Please contact me. If we cannot resolve the problem, return the item for a full refund. Please ship back in the original packaging, or equivalent, to ensure safe return.
