Vintage non-working Elgin pocket watch for parts. Silver-tone metal case with a subtle floral shield design on front. The case opens at the press of the top button to reveal the face inside marked "Elgin" with no crystal. The backside of the top lid is marked with the serial number 8901731, which according to my research dates this watch somewhere between 1899 - 1904. The lid does not seem to stay permanently closed--it pops open on its own leaving a sliver of space between the seams on the right side (see 3rd photo). The watch measures just over 4cm (1-5/8 inches) in diameter with plenty of metal wear, tarnish, oxidization, verdigris, scuffs, scratches and so on--this piece could definitely use a cleaning, I'll leave that up to you. I have not opened the back of the case. Great pocket watch for creative projects!
