Smoky Quartz Crystal Cluster with smoky phantoms
Wonderful Charcoal colored natural smoke

Dimensions (mm): 35 x 25 x 22

Dimensions (inches): 1.4 x 1 x .87

Also called "smoky topaz" because of the lovely smoke and wonderful clarity
from Lincoln County, New Mexico. These are called Smoky Bear Quartz because they come from the same area that Smoky Bear was orphaned in a forest fire.

The hill that we climb to get here is very very steep. It is pretty much a 2 day climb. The weather at the top is only good between June 1 and September 1. Good is a liberal term as late afternoon lightning storms with hail are common. The forest service only allows surface collecting with no tools. When we go we stay a couple of days and that requires primitive camping but John does make a great campfire pizza.
