Incredible Rocky Butte colors on this large gemstone bead. The polish is first rate and adds to the stone's overall presentation. The sage color combined with chesnut brown, black, forest green and brick red create a dramatic scene that could be accented with a multitude of choices. The size definitely contributes to this beautiful example of picture jasper. Please note the smalll pit on the lower right of the stone.
This stone bead is basically petrified mud. I know that does not sound very glamorous but, this “mud” is gorgeous. It is a great example of this colorful and popular picture jasper. Way back when, this mud dripped down into gas pockets that had formed in molten lava. It became super heated - or should we simply say...COOKED and then solidified. I find it hard to believe how this process took plain old mud and formed it into such incredible landscape pictures....Nature Rules:)
