This unique puzzle is a pentomino, made of 12 whimsical shapes, cut by hand, out of 12 different natural woods, giving a modern, rustic touch to this math puzzle.

**FOR CHRISTMAS DELIVERY in the U.S.: ORDER by DEC. 18**

Everybody loves our pentomino puzzles! They are heirloom gifts that can be abused and still work as beautiful, difficult puzzles.

The collection of woods you see here is called our Vibrant edition--so named because it combines our most brightly colored woods — the pure white of holly, the rich plum of Purple Heart, the sunny yellow of Canarywood, and the bright red of Red Heart. All of these colors are naturally occurring, as are the distinctive grain patterns in each piece of the pentomino.

These high-quality, extremely durable hardwoods evoke ideas of a simpler time when all objects, even toys, were made to be long-lasting and beautiful. Our Vibrant edition woods bring a balance of vibrant color and subtle wood grain variation to the composition of this pentomino.

Long before Clif designed his hexiamond puzzles, http://www.etsy.com/shop/scrollwoodshop?section_id=11397577, he developed his own design and pattern for his pentomino puzzles, http://www.etsy.com/shop/scrollwoodshop?section_id=11402574.

Clif only saw a photo of someone else’s pentomino at first, and he wondered, “Could I make that? That looks cool!” After some research, he designed a puzzle that would feature his 12 unique animal shapes in the presentation of 12 pentomino pieces, with each piece made up of five cubes. You can learn more about pentominoes here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentomino.

In addition to their sculptural beauty, our pentominoes are very difficult, very fun puzzles made to be touched and enjoyed for generations to come. Our math puzzles--pentominoes and hexiamonds--go back into their frames many, many ways, providing a unique, pleasant challenge every time you pick it up. These puzzles never get boring or easier! Guys and girls love the difficulty of our pentomino puzzles. They make wonderful toys for older children and adults, built to be keepsakes for generations.

This pentomino is framed by our simple rectangular design, only available for our pentomino puzzles. The pentomino is not only a toy puzzle, but also a beautiful wood sculpture that is well-suited to any modern decor. It brings symmetry, a touch of woodland Zen, and the beauty of unfinished hardwoods to your space. The entire puzzle, in the frame, measures 4" by 6" by 3/4" deep.

This pentomino, our Wood Grain edition, features the following hardwoods:

Bamboo
Basswood
Bubinga
Cocobolo
Lacewood
Mesquite
Peruvian Walnut
Quarter-sawn Oak
Red Heart

Zebrawood
Ziricote

Our pentomino puzzles come with a booklet of their history, ideas for play, and a few solutions as well. Each is branded "Handcrafted by Clifford Nelson" on the back of the frame. The frame is made of light, unfinished wood to complement the variety of colorful animal pieces contained within. Our pentominoes arrive in simple, gift-ready packaging; for upgrading gift wrapping, convo us! We have several options available for any occasion.
