The above is a mirror image is of the body of Gillis van Ledenberg who was secretary of the States of Utrecht from 1588 until his arrest for treason in 1618. He committed suicide to prevent forfeiture of his assets, which could then be inherited by his family, but he was sentenced to death posthumously and posthumously executed.
Hence the hanging coffin.

This journal is constructed from a single piece of 6 ounce leather, which has been internally fitted with a suede lining and two solid 'flaps' to hold a book or journal in place. The entire piece has been hand-dyed and hand-sewn.
