This is my personal take on the Maneki Neko, a symbol of good luck in Japanese culture. A traditional Maneki Neko - often seen outside Japanese restaurants and shops - usually has one paw on a large golden coin with the other paw in the air, representing the cat calling in customers and good fortune to the place of business.

My Maneki Neko has two paws in the air to call in double the luck! I hand paint each Neko, so they each have their own personalities. This one has it's face painted looking up, really pulling in the good luck and fortune from the heavens. On it's backside, it has a yellow good luck star, silver bell, and a cleanly eaten fish. I have replaced the traditional gold coin on the front with a red bib with the kanji (Chinese character) for luck ("kichi"). To call in good fortunue, I have painted the Neko's ears, paws, and tip of it's tail with gold. Display this little cat in your home or business for a little luck and to put a smile on people's faces!

Low fire ceramic, hollow inside, hand painted. Approximately 3" in height, 4" in width (9cm in height, 11cm in width).

I have created several variations of Maneki Nekos, so please check out my shop for other Nekos.
