Hello and welcome to my store,

What we have here are a magnificent pair of ballet dancers by the famed Alfred Philippe of Trifari. Julia Carroll in Costume Jewelry 202 features this set on page 183 with its original 1950 advertisement.
This pair has bezel set molded glass inserts in the color turquoise -- the concave inserts in the arms of the male dancer are particularly intriguing. The glass inserts are translucent and gleam when struck by the light. The male dancer has patent number 158, 126; the female dancer is patent number 157, 523, both granted to Alfred Philippe in early 1950.
The condition is excellent -- the gold tone bodies have developed a lovely rich patina. The ballerina measures 1 7/8 inches long and 1 inch wide; the male dancer measures 2 inches long and 1 1/4 inch wide.
Both are unsigned; interestingly the identical pair (except for color) that Ms. Carroll features in her book are also unsigned. A very special and scarce pair -- Alfred Philippe's jewelry from 60+ years ago has become difficult to find. A wonderful treasure.

Meet the owner of patwatty.
