I need more room in my shop! I have too much stuff and not enough space! Price drop from $300 dow to $200 to move quickly!

This piece of locust wood was saved from the chipper! It originally came from a tree that was cut down for a housing development, but Dan managed to get his hands on it, mill it, and let it air dry for over a year. The result is a piece of beautiful hardwood furniture. Locust wood is one of the hardest and heaviest woods commercially available in the US, even harder than oak. Most trees fall victim to the locust borer beetle before the get large enough to have any real use, but this guy managed to escape the bug!

I can't decide whether this is a coffee table or a bench. I originally had it pegged for a table, but it got pushed against the wall and the more I sat on it, the more I thought it should be a bench. It works beautifully for either. The bench / table is 49" long, 20" wide at the big end, 14" wide at the small end, and 17" tall. The top is 1" thick and is mounted on 16" hairpin legs made from 3/8" rod. It has been treated with a secret combination of oils and light polyurethane. It is not glossy. It is finished in a more rustic style to preserve the natural look. There are tons of intricate swirls and the entire piece just has a wonderful flow. The bark has been smoothed out so that it will not snag on clothing, but enough of it has been left to keep the live edge styling intact. The hairpin legs, modeled after Eames Era architecture are unfinished and raw steel. It is strong enough to be used as seating as well. This table is one in a series of two, from sequential cuts of the same tree.
