This is a 5x7 signed and numbered print of my original watercolor painting. You will receive the print 2/50. All of my prints are printed on Red River 100% cotton rag Aurora white paper with Epson archival pigment inks. It will be carefully packed between 2 rigid pieces of cardboard so it will not bend.

Dragonflies are one of my favorite insects to paint. Their iridescent wings, large multifaceted eyes, elongated and often brightly colored bodies fascinate me.

Dragonflies are amongst the fastest flying insects in the world. Most fly at 22-34 mph with a cruising speed of about 10 mph. They can fly backwards, change direction in mid air, and hover for up to 1 min. Dragonflies are usually found around marshes, lakes, ponds, streams, and wetlands because their larvae are aquatic. They eat mosquitos, flies, bees, ants, wasps, and rarely butterflies. In Japan dragonflies are symbols of courage, strength, and happiness.

Emperor dragonflies can fly extremely high. They are 3 inches long. Because of their size they are able to eat larger insects such as butterflies, skimmers, and tadpoles often while in flight. They are rarely still. Emperor dragonflies can be found in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
