These vintage hollow glass beads are commonly called mercury glass although mercury has not been used in a long time. They are crystal clear glass that is silver lined and similar to the types of beads found in vintage holiday garlands. These hollow beads have been blown into molds & then cut apart so the edges can be sharp. Probably made in Japan, these should not be strung on a plain cotton or other fabric thread as it may cut through. Always used a reinforced stringing material for these types of beads.

These are a squarish, rectangular shape and measure approximately 5mm long x almost 2mm wide. You will receive a full, 12 strand hank of approximately 600 beads. The hanks measure approximately 10" long (beads only) & you will receive a total of approx. 120". There are 50 beads on each strand & they are bright & shiny without discoloration or oxidation. I was asked to see these beads with a US penny for size comparison & I have added this photo. A US penny is 19mm in diameter. Although old they have been stored very carefully & are in very good condition. There will be some broken beads but not very many.

A number of years ago we purchased a very large quantity of vintage mercury glass beads. We are happy to share them! Please convo me if you require multiple hanks!
