Lovely vintage dress, circa 1940s. Appears to be homemade. Constructed of soft cotton in a lavender and white gingham print. Very flattering, feminine cut, with wide scoop neckline, plain short sleeves, fitted natural waistline, and bias-cut skirt. Decorative white plastic buttons up the back; fastens at the side with a white metal zipper. A very pretty & comfortable summer dress for kicking around in.

This dress has been much loved in its previous life and shows evidence of this throughout. There are several old stitched repairs & patched areas (charming) and a few I have added as well (see 3rd photo/convo me for add'l pics). I also covered the original eyelet lace trim at the neckline with tightly appliqued Edwardian-era white cotton cocoon trim, which gives the piece a bit more of an interesting & special look, I think.

Measurements, taken lying flat and doubled where appropriate, are approximately:

Bust: 36"
Waist: 28"
Hip: full
Shoulder: 14.75"
Sleeve length: 8"
Bodice length: 15"
Dress length: 42"

As previously mentioned, the dress shows wear throughout, including multiple mended areas and general softening/wash & wear. There are also a few remaining small rust-colored spots and a couple of small holes here and there. Convo me if you'd like additional images of these areas, or if you'd like to discuss having them mended as well.
