A one of a kind tambourine necklace from the Philippines. It is made of silver and has recently been gold-plated. The tambourine necklace is a filigreed jewelry popular during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines from 1521-1898. Aside from being used as an accessory, it was also a tool used to propagate Christianity as the tambourine beads were patterned after the rosary.

It is an heirloom piece so it was typical then to divide the beads amongst siblings which is why it is normal to find tambourine jewelry nowadays with missing pieces/components. This piece has been re-strung and dark green tourmaline stones were added. Other than the tourmaline and jump rings located near the pendant, everything else is antique.

There is a small chip on the glass at the back of the pendant/reliquary but barely noticeably. While the back cover of the reliquary is a little raised- not flat (as seen in the 5th photo). Other than that, it is in excellent condition and ready to be worn. This can be used for weddings ("something old"), special occasions and my personal favorite- over a plain t-shirt. :)

Measurements:
Necklace Length (without pendant): 28 inches (or 71.0cm)
Pendant Length: 1.77 inch (or 4.5cm)
Pendant Width: 0.98 inch (or 2.5cm)
