Earthy and vibrant this Leather Journal features Australian Boulder Opal and is handmade entirely from recycled leather. One in a growing line of consistently texurally inspiring pieces that are hatching out of creation...

"The Eye of the Opal"

Every now and then I will wake from a nights sleep and have a picture of something I am to create in my head- often these creations are far more structured than the organic free flowing pieces I would usually create or are very specific in what they want to be- this most certainly is one of those creations and it is very happy being a book ;) After creating the cover I had a vision of it hanging from a beautiful piece of timber and thought "It's a wall hanging!" and was going to do this. As you can see this never occured and it sat there until I got it that it wanted to be a book! I can understand why... at the time it was being born I thought this creation was asking alot of me but leaf by leaf it unfolded and upon spending time with the finished product I am pleased I followed it's lead as this will make a stunning vessel for someone very special :)

This journal features a piece of Australian Boulder Opal that was cut and polished by Martina at Natures Art Melbourne www.etsy.com/shop/NaturesArtMelbourne and measures 3cm (1.1") x 2cm (0.7"). In the centre of the piece there is a small amout of fire coming through that sneakily catches your eye.

Every journal that hatches is so unique and so different- fit for all the varied masterminds that walk this magical planet with us. It can be challenging to keep track of all the thoughts and ideas we generate daily so I find noting it in whatever medium you choose at least gives us a chance to fill our full potential!

Use this journal as a tool and a reference point to house your wildest dreams and inspirations.

All of my leather work is done using recycled or reclaimed leather. No new leather is bought to produce any of my creations as it is simply not necessary! No digging or mining occured to claim this piece of Boulder Opal. It was bought to the surface by mother earth to be an aid to our journey and was collected by Natures Art Melbourne- this is a particularly unique combination of craftswomanship to create one ethically sound happy treasure to cleanly adorn your world with!

It holds 150 pages of hand ripped recycled drawing paper which I have used brown waxed cotton to bind in the paper. Externally the journal measures 24cm (9.4') tall and 17.5cm (6.8") wide. The "Eye of the Opal" is fastened closed with two Celtic style press studs.

This journal also comes with a secret stash of pixie love inside and all around it ;)
