Here are SEVENTEEN (17), very old.. from the mid-1800's.. Black GoodYear Rubber Buttons. Each is backmarked, all are in the Big Book of Buttons, and all are really little pieces of history.
TWO Extra Large and FIFTEEN matching smaller rubber buttons in this lot.

Rubber buttons are American buttons, made from hardened (vulcanized) rubber. They are generally dark and plain buttons, many of them were backmarked with Goodyear and a patent date, often 1851.

The largest TWO of these matching hard rubber buttons, are 1 1/2" across. The black buttons have a plain rim and a center textured like fabric. They each have a sew thru self shank with thread grooves.

There are FIFTEEN (15) matching, 3/4" with the same subtle fabric texture design. The raised self shank and writing is on the back. I.R.C. & Co. GOODYEAR 1851.

All are in great condition, ready for the collector or the artist. The backmarks are especially significant to collectors, or someone wanting provenance. Use them in a fun, creative way.

See the Zooms for best details. It is very difficult to get good pictures of black on black.
