This is the Gorgeous Chrysanthemum Sugar and Creamer Set by Meriden B. Company. This is a classic lovely Creamer and Sugar Bowl Set. They are exquisitely decorated with chrysanthemums and were made by Meriden in the early 1890's. A wonderful repousse and engraving work created the chrysanthemums that grace the pair.
This creamer and sugar bowl are pear-shaped and balanced with simple loop handles and rims. The necks are set just above a bevel and defined by two sets of three fine lines with a very tiny dot pattern in between. The sugar bowl is missing the lid, however it doesn't really matter when it looks as lovely as these two pieces do.
The sugar bowl and creamer both have the makers mark: Meriden B. Company, Quadruple Plate, pattern #1972. Both are in very good condition with only one minor ding to the creamer and that could easily be dinged back out.
Measures: Sugar bowl: 4 1/2"h x 6" w, handle to handle Creamer: 5 1/2"h x 4 1/2"w spout to handle. Used as a display or in use these are the "precious" pair that are just perfect.

Company Info:

Meriden Company was originally organized in 1852 by H.C. & K.C. Wilcox, O.C. Lewis, J. A. Frary L.J. Curtis, W.W. Lyman and J Munson. Rogers later became part of the Meriden Company in 1862. In 1985 they bought out Wilcox & Evertsen and moved to Meriden. The stamp used in the catalogue for retailers from 1867 and for this set, said that this was triple plate and white metal. In1896, they ceased adding quadruple plate to their stamping. This style was probably made prior to 1900, it not Art Nouveau or Art Deco which came out later. The Meriden Britannia Company officers were among the leaders in the formation of the International Silver Company in 1896.

*** all silver may need to be cleaned upon purchase, although some appear cleaned they might need more attention. I leave this up to the buyer***
