Here are FOURTEEN ( 14 ) , very old.. from the mid-1800's.. Black GoodYear Rubber Buttons.... all are really little pieces of history. There are several different styles in this selection of rubber buttons. Because they are such simple, plain buttons, look at the ZOOMS to see the differences.
Their significance is the material they are made of, their Age, and that some are backmarked with Goodyear.

Rubber buttons are American buttons, made from hardened (vulcanized) rubber. They are generally dark and plain buttons, many of them were backmarked with Goodyear and a patent date, often 1851. Some of them were not backmarked.

The largest TWO of these matching hard rubber buttons, are 1 " across. The black buttons have a plain rim and a center matte textured. There are FIVE (5) matching smaller black buttons, measuring in at 9/16". They, too, each have a sew thru self shank with thread grooves.

There are FIVE (5) matching, Fish Eye Sew Thrus, 5/8" with the same subtle, matte texture centers. These are backmarked, but some have worn down or off. Then there are two other single rubber buttons, one with writing on the front.

Fourteen total in this lot. All are in good condition, ready for the collector or the artist. The ones with backmarks are especially significant to collectors, or someone wanting provenance. Use them in a fun, creative way.

See the Zooms for best details. It is very difficult to get good pictures of black on black.
