I’m offering this lot of four Rand McNally Junior Elf books from the ‘40s through the ‘60s:

1. “Mrs. Hen Goes to Market” by Godfrey Lyn and illustrated by Elizabeth Webbe. From 1949 with classic ‘40s illustrations. A cute little story about Henrietta Hen who wakes up sad knowing she has nothing more exciting to do that day than to go to market, but the trip to market ends up being a wonderful adventure with Henrietta being very happy about her day. Twenty-seven pages.

2. “The Cock, the Mouse and the Little Red Hen” illustrated by Helen Adler and published in 1960. Three house mates find a resolution to their being kidnapped by the fox who lives on the next hill and the industrious little red hen finds a way of escape for them all. Twenty-seven pages.

3. “Ten little Monkeys” by Jessica Potter Broderick and illustrated by Katherine O. Phillips. Published in 1953. A charming story in rhyme which ultimately teaches children to count to ten as they find each of the monkeys in the illustrations. Twenty-seven pages.

4. “Little Raccoon” by Mabel Watts and illustrated by Jean Temburine in 1961. A story about smart, playful Ricky Raccoon and his outdoor adventures with other animals in the forest as he learns about their lives. Twenty-four pages.

Two of the four books are in excellent condition–no marks or writing on pages, no rips, no damage and slight shelf wear. “Mrs. Hen Goes to Market” (the oldest–1949) and “Little Raccoon” both show shelf wear only on the covers, not to be considered damage. The insides have no flaws of any sort.

Please feel free to convo me with any questions you may have about any other details before purchasing.
