1960s 1970s mustard yellow heavy enamel fondue pot with chrome stand and teak handle, burner base and handle knob. I believe this to be a Michael Lax design, but cannot say for sure. The design elements closely resemble his work, but there are no markings on the entire piece except for an M in a circle and USA incised on the very bottom metal burner sterno tray. I have done extensive research online, and have only found one other like this set, which wasn't identified as to origin, either. Michael Lax designed for Copco (among other companies), whose enameled cast iron pieces were produced on the Danish island of Morso. This sturdy, well-constructed set would be great for entertaining or as a display piece to complement mid century and modern decor.

The pot appears to be enameled cast iron, as the pot alone without the lid weighs 2 pounds. The exterior is a mustard yellow enamel and the inside is white enamel. The bottom has a black heat ring or circle. The pot lid is stainless steel with a yellow enamel round handle supported by a wooden ring.

The entire set is 9" - 9.25" tall to top of pot handle. Pot alone is 3.75" tall without the lid, with a top rim diameter of 7". The chrome and teak stand is 4.5" tall.

Please look at all photos carefully and convo me with any questions or for more photos. I had more photos than space allows and had to combine a few - I would be happy to provide those photos in their entirety.

Condition: Very good - this striking piece displays very well. The pot lid has a line of hard water stain, and the round handle or finial has a faint red mark on it (see Photo #5). The pot itself has some gray utensil marks - as the pot sits in Photo #1, there is one small patch right in the middle, which is also shown in the bottom section of Photo #4. The other side of the pan has more gray marks, the most pronounced one is in Photo #4, top. The white inside of the pan is very clean with little or no gray marks - there are 2 very small rust-colored patches and 2 very small chips to the enamel on the rim (all indicated by small arrows - see Photo #2). The balance of the set (stand/burner tray/burner flame adjuster) are all in excellent condition. The burner flame adjuster moves freely.
