OOAK 100 bead chotki, also known as a prayer rope or komboskini, is made with bronzite, bloodstone, howlite, brecciated jasper, chrysanthemum stone, wooden dividers, silver seed beads, wire wrapped cross and tan suede and hemp tassel. Beaded section is approximately 30 inches and cross with tassel is approximately 5 inches. St. Pachomius (feast day May 9) is credited for originally using a prayer rope. Prayer ropes during that time (300A.D) had as many as 500 beads, but today are usually made with 33, 50 and 100 beads. The larger beads serve as dividers to help you keep count. The tassel was to wipe away the tears of the sinner. The tassel on these prayer beads is symbolic of that. The Jesus Prayer is usually said when meditating with a Chotki, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, the sinner."
