Both of these porcelain studio pottery vessels come from the estate of a super-serious collector of MCM Scandinavian ceramics and glass with a soft-spot for the Norwegian ware. They are quite beautiful, in amazing shape, and would compliment scandi-mod / danish decor brilliantly.
The bowl is deep, and the walls are uniform and fairly thin (about 1/4"). The side dish is shallow and of a similar thickness. Both are signed to the base with an etched "Nth". In addition, the large bowl has what appears to be an "S.i" painted in a light brown beneath the glaze. Unfortunately I do not know who made them, but I would extremely shocked if they were not circa the 50's-70's and Scandinavian in origin.
Please let me know if have any knowledge or guesses about the potter...s/he was certainly no slouch! (My only guess it that it could be an early hand-thrown pre-Royal Copenhagen Nils Thorsson mark, but that's just a wild-shot in the dark!)
Condition is immaculate on both bowls, with no chips, scratches, cracks, crazing, hairlines, stains or the like. Gorgeous!
Note: please check my other listing for a sweet small vase from this very same mystery-scandi-potter!
