When I purchased this ring I was told it was a genuine tassie- the first tassies were produced by James Tassie in the late 1700's (he was a famous Scottish gem engraver who created replicas of ancient engraved agates by combining enamel, colored paste & sulpher to create an opaque glass), but the tradition was carried on by his son & grandson ,so I don't know which era this piece comes from.
It is a large profile of a classically handsome young man with a head of curls ,who is either Greek or Roman looking. The stone appears nearly black (maybe the deepest wine bordering on black)
but when held up to the light it is like dark coca cola..
It measures an inch & 1/8th north to south & 13/16ths of an inch wide & the bezel is 3/16ths of an inch high. It's set in silver in a rather primitive way on the very edges around the stone, though the sides & back are well done. The ring size is 11.
I showed it in my last picture with other items so you can get an idea of the size & how it displays.
This sale is for the single Intaglio Silver Ring only.

If you are in love with a piece but can't afford it in one fell swoop ask me about Lay Away.
