These Bennington potters 1641 soup bowls from the “Classic" line were designed in the early 1960s by Japanese artist Yusuki Aida. I have seen this color referred to as "Black Velvet." It is a beautiful, matte black glaze.

These bowls are in very good condition, with some light scratching/marks and some manufacturing "pops" or dimples. Please refer closely to each photo. There are no chips or cracks. Each bowl is clearly marked with the Bennington Vermont stamp, model number (1641,) and David Gil's famous arm, hand and spark*.

About 5" wide and 2 1/4" tall.
