Vintage Antique glass mason jar and oak wood industrial table lamp lighting. I found this very old mason jar at a thrift store. This jar is pre WWI and the manganese that was used in glass during that time has very slowly turned the jar to an amethyst purple color that marks its age as very old indeed. Likely this mason jar was made between 1903 and 1909 and has the words 'Economy Jar' printed on it. During WWI the American supply of manganese was interrupted by the Russian blockade so only jars before WWI contain manganese and can turn purple with age. Also, the mold seam line on this jar stops before the lip of the jar, meaning the jar was finished by hand instead of by machine. Only jars before 1915 were finished by hand. The glass of this jar has many large bubbles inside of it, also indicative of only the very old glass. It also has a few chips and dings on the edge and some acid etching that has turned it a bit cloudy especially on the bottom. Over the decades, acidic foods will slowly etch glass but this jar is in very good condition considering it is over 100 years old!

Since this antique mason jar has a very old school vintage look, we decided to compliment it by using a large thick piece of 9 1/2 by 9 1/2 inch salvaged oak wood and gave it a rough hewn chiseled industrial look including strategically placed dings and a light wash of wood stain to bring out the grain. A candelabra night light sized flicker flame bulb is set directly into the wood base and the jar fits into an inset ring in the top of the wood. The flicker flame bulb dances around to simulate the look of an actual flame and seen through the frosted glass of the antique mason jar, it really does look like a true flame. The bulb can be easily changed simply by lifting off the mason jar. The lamp stands a total of 7 1/2 inches high. A gold colored cord with inline rotary on/off switch completes the picture.

All light fixtures on this lamp are of the highest quality and UL rated for safety. For that old school historical industrial look, bring a little character into your home with industrial chic table top lighting.
