The Project Ribbon Countdown is a truly unique, innovative and thoughtful group gift to be given to loved ones with cancer that are facing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment. The Countdown can be placed on any flat surface or hung on a wall. It is totally reusable as a jewelry holder, picture holder and for many other things. Read how it works below...

How to use the PROJECT RIBBON Countdown:
1. Determine how many treatments your loved one will have.
2. Purchase the Project Ribbon Countdown – purchase extra bags if the patient has more than 10 treatments (Countdown includes 10 bags and 11 cards).
3. Ask friends and family if they would like to participate and sponsor a treatment. Those that would like to participate will need to agree to purchase a thoughtful gift for the patient and send it to you as the organizer. You will need at least one person to participate PER TREATMENT.
4. Be sure each participant tells you what he/she has in mind, so the patient is not getting duplicate gifts.
5. Once you receive the gifts from each participant you will fill out the cards provided with each participant’s name and a description of the gift (“fuzzy slippers”, “spa gift certificate” etc.) and place one card in each bag. If there are more participants than number of treatments you may have to double up on some of the cards in the bags.
6. Tie each bag to the metal bars on The Countdown in sequential order (the bags are numbered).
7. Present The Countdown to your loved one before the first treatment.
8. Each day/night before the patient’s treatment she/he will open a bag that will contain the description of the gift and participant’s name. You as the organizer will then give the recipient the actual gift that was mailed to you so the patient can enjoy the thoughtful items sent during and beyond the treatment timeframe.
9. Once the treatments are complete, The Countdown can be repurposed for many things.

Often times when friends and family hear that a loved one of any age has been diagnosed with cancer and needs to go through chemotherapy or radiation treatments, they are at a loss for words. They don’t know how to express their concern and don’t know what to do to offer support. They are afraid of saying something wrong or bringing it up at all. They want to help but don’t quite know how. We have created our Chemo Countdown Calendar as an easy and thoughtful way for those close to the patient to be involved and show much they care. Even if not physically there to present a gift, this countdown allows friends and family near and far to participate and show their support each night before their loved one’s treatment. It is designed to bring some joy to the patient during their difficult journey, and to be a testament to the love and encouragement their friends and family wish to express.

WHO WE ARE:
Ten years ago Susie's mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had 12 chemo treatments lined up on her calendar. Susie thought it would be motivational to give her a chemo “countdown calendar”. Each night before her treatment she opened up an envelope that held a gift for her to enjoy during or after her treatments.

Seven years ago Susie and Karla's dear friend Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer. Susie remembered how encouraged her mom was each time she opened up one of those little gift envelopes so, Karla and Susie decided to take the idea to the next level. Lisa had 16 chemo treatments on her calendar… so this time we “Rallied the Troops” – her friends and family and asked each person to participate via “sponsoring” an envelope. The envelope would contain a written description of a gift that they would purchase and then send to us to present to her, in person. These gifts were intended to help her through her journey… Thoughtful gifts such as a hand made quilt, gift certificates to her favorite juicery, a plush blanket, a cool beanie and more were sent on behalf of the family and friends who participated.
She kept the countdown calendar in her sight the entire time she braved through her treatments. She told us her calendar truly got her through her chemo journey. But it was not only a motivation to finish the treatments, it was a testament to how much her friends and family love her and care about her.

Recently, Karla and Susie decided to recreate this idea and offer it to the public. We wanted to bring this idea to life and to the world so that others going through their journey fighting cancer could be inspired and motivated as well.
So, RALLY YOUR TROOPS and bring your loved one’s family and friends together to take part in this countdown to victory.

Project Ribbon created a beautiful gift for a five year old boy at my elementary school. When his mom opened the Chemo Countdown Calendar, she could not hold back the tears. Our sweet little friend was incredibly excited; Project Ribbon had personalized it just for him (and he is looking forward to the gifts, of course). This was a tremendous opportunity for an entire staff to get together and support one of our precious students. Thank you, Project Ribbon, for bringing JOY... not only to one courageous kid, but to an entire group of teachers that were able to provide love and hope to his whole family.
