This large cushion cover is a great gift for a 1971 anniversary or Coin Collector!

On 15 February 1971, Britain changed over to decimalised currency. This large British Money Cushion is made by upcycling a vintage 1971 Tea Towel featuring a sandy coloured background with delicate line drawings of London landmarks and tourist attractions such as Nelson's Column and a British Bobby (Policeman).

Titled "BRITISH DECIMAL COINS - D-Day Mon Feb 15th 1971", it celebrates the transition in Britain from using shillings and pence to the new decimalisation system. Also appearing are large graphic depictions of our coins: 1,2,5,10 and 50 pence pieces and also the 1/2 penny coin which was withdrawn from circulation in 1984.

The reverse is made from a luxe grey wool fabric and the cover is sewn in an envelope style and fastens with an original vintage brass metal uniform button featuring Britannia which echoes the image and colour of our 2 pence pieces.

Would make a fab gift for anyone born in 1971, especially on the 15th February!!!!

Size: Approx 19" x 29" / 50cm x 75cm

(Please note that for items shipped out of the UK, by law we have to attach a customs form to the parcel which will show the value of the contents.)

I always include a complimentary postcard in the parcel as a thank you, a personalised message can be written on this for your recipient upon request - just contact me and I will try my best to help.
Please contact us if you are interested in wholesale.
To ship our large cushions and pads outside the UK is expensive because the couriers charge by volumetric weight, not actual weight, which is very frustrating! We try to keeps costs as low as possible whilst still covering the value of the contents (for insurance purposes in case of loss).
Where possible, we offer our cushions as 'covers only' so you have the choice of what to order, and will link to that option within the listings. It is often cheaper to source your own pad in your country than pay for the extra postage and we indicate the size pad you would need in the listing also. Thanks for your understanding.
