This is an antique Victorian Sewing Bird. Sewing birds were first patented around 1853, and this one is a great example. The detail on the bird and clamp part is very intricate. No longer has the ability to clamp with beak and is a little bent in upper body only. Originally had a small pin cushion on top of body which were usually filled with saw dust and disintegrated over time. Measures 4 1/2 inches tall and is 3 3/4 inches wide. Would be a great display.
