This neat odd shaped hinged Thimble box is called Mauchline ware and is made out of sycamore wood In Scotland.Transfers were hand applied to each and every item they made and coated with slow drying copal varnish. This miniature box measures 2" long x 1 1/4" wide and stands a little over 1 1/2" tall. The hinge and clasp work great as well. Inside is a sterling Florida thimble that has three scenes of St Augustine Florida as well as the date 1899 along with the initials FLW. I have a number of different views of the two items so you can see what they have on all sides. You are getting the one thimble and the mauchline box. The thimble has a hole in the top ( see photo) and is not solid because of that. Other than that it is in very good shape. THe box has its original lining as well and has the transfer of Central Avenue in St Petersburg Florida.
