This is a simple handspun skein of Chinese nettles (also known as ramie) and linen (also known as flax). It is thin and delicate in appearance but extremely strong. The color is a cross between light grey and light brown - like oatmeal - because the nettle fiber is silky white and the flax is grayish-brown.

This skein has a medieval quality. Its natural, homespun look is a reminder of the days when dyed fabrics were only for the very rich. You can see and feel the fact that it is made entirely from plants.

Nettles & Linen has been spun in a mildly thick and thin style so it has a lovely texture when knitted or woven. I love crocheting with it! It’s also wonderful for use in jewelry: just thread several loops of it through a special bead and you'll have a simple, elegant necklace.

A 100 gram (3.5 ounce) single ply skein, approximately 156 yards long, spun in a pet and smoke free environment. Yarn gauge = 13 wraps per inch.

This yarn can be spun in greater quantities - just ask :-)
