I've had this piece since 2003, bought a collection of Civil War and Post Civil War Cast Iron Kettles. I was told it is from 1860 - 1890. Not sure but definitely old and in good condition. John Wright has been making ironware in Pennsylvania since the mid 1880's.

This piece was recently cleaned and polished. No rust nor damage. Couldn't clean too well inside so I wouldn't recommend using unless you thoroughly clean it before use and handle needs some polishing. This definitely makes a wonderful home or garden accent piece. Civil War kettles are big collectors' items for inside and outside the home. Popular for rustic or primitive garden motifs and in americana or country kitchens.

This piece weighs a whopping 10 lbs. Hard to imagine how heavy it would be with water in it.
Sliding lid ensures you will never lose the lid and handle makes it easier to carry.

Kettle stands 7" high, with handle is 12" tall and 10" long.

Good price on this piece, other sites have similar tea kettles for a fortune!

Due to the weight of this piece shipping is high - if it's an overestimate I will refund you the difference.
