Vintage Mexico Embroidered Skirt & Peasant Top

Vintage 70's bohemian ensemble of brilliantly colored satin-stitch floral embroidery on a black sheer-net ground. Eye-popping colors in tangerine, sunburst gold & chartreuse/lemon, with contrasting floral centers of dusty rose. The neckline is accented in cross-stitch flowers & secures with an off-white cotton cord affording some adjustability. Wear the neckline up over the shoulders or down across the shoulders as shown in photos. The top flares from bust to hem beneath the oversized collar. Pretty puff sleeves with dainty tucks lie beneath the embroidered collar. Black fabric is a smooth nylon. Top may be worn outside of the skirt or as a separate.

Label~ Imported by Henderson & McMillan, Los Angeles, Made in Mexico
~cotton is crossed out to indicate the fabric is nylon. numbers are written on label, perhaps the original price of 49.00A truly unique and spectacular ensemble!

These are the measurements of the garment, not the body it would fit. Please use a tape measure to take your own measurements, compare with those below and leave enough room (an inch or more) to insure a comfortable fit. There are no closures on the skirt or underskirt but there are tabs that extend at the end of each waistband. You could easily add hook and eye closures to personalize the fit.

Bust - approx 34"-35"
(you may need to open the armhole a little as they appear a bit small .
this alteration would not show as the large collar overlaps it.)
Hemline - 58"
Center of Neckline to Hemline - 19"

Outer Skirt
Waist - 27"-28.5" (you can add your hook & eye closures to make this smaller with some overlap or a little bit larger, to approx 30" in which case you would have a small keyhole opening beneath the waistband to reveal the black underskirt)
Waist to Hem - 41"

Underskirt (black cotton blend, not original to ensemble)
Waist - 28"-30" depending upon where you put your hook & eye closures
Waist to Hem - 36"

Condition & Additional Details:
Very good to excellent condition. There are many pulls to the embroidery only seen when you are looking for them. You could tack them down if it bothers you but it does not effect the overall appearance of the ensemble which is truly spectacular. We are including the black cotton-blend skirt with the ensemble though it does not appear to be original to the set. It was apparently worn together and was purchased together. There are initials written inside the waistband of black underskirt.
As mentioned above, neither the skirt nor underskirt have waist closures. The waistband on each has a tab that extends to wrap across and you could easily add hook and eye closures to adjust to your size.
There is some wear to underarms which have a whitish cast on the exterior. It's really not bad and looks like it would clean up with a professional cleaning. In addition, the large collar overlaps the underarms. when the top is worn off-shoulder.
Armholes are small and may need some alternation.
If you need any additional photos or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
This is a stunning and truly unique set!
