I love the cover of this book! It has a striking silhouette of a schooner against a pattern of white seagulls on a turquoise background. This primer would look great displayed face-out on a shelf.

Published in 1939 by The Macmillan Company, this book was written by Arthur I. Gates, Miriam Blanton Huber and Celeste Comegys Peardon. Part of the "The New Work-Play Books", it was reprinted in 1950.

Chock full of stories and full-color illustrations drawn by seven different artists, this hard-bound 344-page book has easy to read large print. Measuring 6 by 8 inches, it has seven sections: About Boys and Girls, Then and Now Stories, Fun with Animal Friends, Early Days in Our Country, Look Around Outdoors, Friends in Other Lands, and Magic Stories, along with a short word list for the third reader at the back.

In very good condition with some wear to the cover, the interior pages are clean. The inside front cover is signed by the book's original owner.

Please note that for U.S. buyers, this item will ship via Media Mail.
