This vintage 1930s or 40s brooch is made from an unusual mix of metal and plastic. The metal appears to be aluminum - it does not appear to be shiny enough to be chrome plated. The plastic is an early one, probably bakelite, but I have not tested it. (It has the density of bakelite, and appears to carve like bakelite, but is an unusual marbled brown color I’ve not seen before.) The aluminum gives the piece an industrial feel, but the nature-themed subject matter counterbalances this nicely. The resulting design is quite pleasing.

The brooch measures 2 and 1/8” wide and 2” tall. It’s signed only “TCHECO SLOVAQUIE” (Czechoslovakia) on the clasp. The aluminum is sturdily mounted to the plastic with screws. The pin is in excellent vintage condition, with a little bit of crazing in the plastic, visible only on extremely close inspection. You can see this in the second photo. Otherwise, I find no condition issues.
